Definition of a Stubble Jumper

The stubble jumper is historically a derisive term attached to people from Saskatchewan who moved to Alberta for work. They were called stubble jumpers because they jumped away from the stubble of their barren prairie fields towards the riches of Alberta. However, the term has been reclaimed and I now use it freely to be proud of my hayseed roots. I have yet to come across a term for a person who moves from Alberta to BC, but perhaps it will be something like Rough Red Necks for Alberta is known for its oil and its hillbillies.
So to fill out the definition of a Stubble Jumper, I will define myself. Born of the prairie soil where I roamed under infinite skies, I grew to a child who then jumped stubble for Alberta. It was there that the full small town life was experienced without a concern for a larger world. However, things changed finally with a literary education where a poetic voice and writer sentiment developed. This sentiment could not survive alone, as it would starve, and so a legal life arose, but the mountains were higher and so they had to be scaled on the path towards Vancouver, which was quite a jump for the little prairie boy.

This is a picture of a stubble field. Note that there are no people jumping through it as this stubble field is by Lethbridge, Alberta.
Passing the Mountains

Follow the high jump through the mountains. It is here that the terrain, the geography changes, and so things change.
